Poly Gloss 85 Slow Go Polyaspartic | Extended Working Time Topcoat

Poly Gloss 85 Slow Go is a premium, professional grade 85% solids polyaspartic topcoat engineered to take the stress out of flooring projects. Unlike fast setting topcoats that require rushing, this custom formulation gives you an unprecedented 60 to 90 minute working window, ensuring a flawless, consistent clear finish on intricate or massive surface areas.

This extended working time makes Poly Gloss 85 Slow Go significantly more forgiving than standard polyaspartic coatings. Installers have the ability to work at a controlled pace, maintain a wet edge, and achieve a consistent finish without the pressure of a fast cure system.

While this formulation is more approachable than traditional polyaspartics, proper surface preparation, mixing, and application technique are still required for best results.

Important Notice for Metallic Floors: Poly Gloss 85 Slow Go is the ultimate recommended clear topcoat for protecting metallic epoxy systems. Because this product remains wet and open for up to 8 hours, it self levels beautifully over your metallic design without trapping roller marks or standard polyaspartic orange peel texture, resulting in a flawless, glass like finish.

Formulated entirely without plasticizers, this two component system guarantees zero tire staining, maintaining a pristine, high gloss reflection for years.

The Advantage of Slow Go

  • Massive 60 to 90 minute working time drastically reduces installation stress
  • Highly forgiving formulation allows for a controlled, meticulous application
  • Remains wet for up to 8 hours allowing superior self leveling
  • The definitive clear topcoat for metallic epoxy floors
  • Zero plasticizer formula permanently prevents tire staining
  • Extreme UV stability prevents ambering and yellowing
  • Exceptional high gloss finish with outstanding depth and clarity

Application Control and Open Time

The standout feature of Poly Gloss 85 Slow Go is its extraordinary open time. While standard polyaspartics flash quickly, Slow Go affords installers 60 to 90 minutes of active working time and remains wet on the floor for up to 8 hours. This allows you to:

  • Effortlessly maintain a wet edge across massive commercial spaces
  • Completely eliminate the risk of roller lines and lap marks
  • Achieve unparalleled smoothness as a clear coat over metallic and solid color systems
  • Work at a comfortable, methodical pace in warmer environments

If your project demands a rapid return to service rather than extended working time, we highly recommend Poly Gloss 85 Regular.

Mixing Guidelines

Poly Gloss 85 Slow Go operates strictly on a 1:1 Base to Activator mix ratio.

  • When mixing 2 gallons or less, you must use a 5 Gallon Paddle Mixer and mix thoroughly for 2 minutes.
  • When mixing full 3 or 4 gallon batches, you must use a Box Mixer to prevent folding excess air into the resin, mixing for 2 minutes.
  • Always maintain a drill speed of 300 to 450 RPM.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this product easier to apply than standard polyaspartics?
Absolutely. Because of the massive 60 to 90 minute working time, it is significantly more forgiving and takes the stress out of the application. Installers have the ability to work at a controlled pace without the pressure of a fast cure system, though proper professional techniques are still required.

What is the working time of Slow Go?
You will have approximately 60 to 90 minutes of active working time, depending on ambient temperature and jobsite conditions.

Is this the right clear topcoat for metallic epoxy floors?
Absolutely. Slow Go is the premier choice for sealing metallic systems because it remains wet for up to 8 hours, allowing the clear surface to level out perfectly without trapping roller texture.

When can I walk and drive on the floor?
The floor can accept light foot traffic in 24 hours, and reaches a full cure ready for vehicles in 48 hours.

Can I use this instead of Regular Poly Gloss 85?
Yes, but you must account for the slower cure cycle. Use Regular when you need a fast 24 hour return to service, and Slow Go when you prioritize an easy application and maximum working time.

Does this product yellow over time?
No. The formulation is highly UV stable and engineered to resist ambering, even in areas with sunlight exposure.

Why does this formula prevent tire stains?
It is manufactured entirely without plasticizers. Plasticizer migration is the primary cause of tire stains, a problem this topcoat entirely eliminates.

What is the mix ratio?
It requires a simple 1:1 mix ratio of Base to Activator.
