What Is Urethane Cement?
Urethane cement, also called cementitious urethane, cementitious polyurethane, polyurethane concrete, or urethane mortar, combines polyurethane resin chemistry with cement and graded aggregate. It is installed much thicker than a typical epoxy coating and is formulated to move more closely with the concrete during rapid temperature changes, which is what makes it a dependable flooring material where heat, moisture, impact, heavy traffic, and aggressive cleaning occur together.
Urethane cement is not the same product as a thin urethane topcoat, such as our own One Stop WB Urethane. A urethane topcoat is normally rolled over another coating at a thin film thickness. Urethane cement is a complete mortar or slurry layer, installed directly over properly prepared concrete at measured thicknesses such as 1/8 inch, 3/16 inch, or 1/4 inch.

Compatible Topcoats
For added chemical, abrasion, or UV resistance, urethane cement can be top coated once cured. From our current in stock lineup, APF Epoxy 600 and APF Epoxy Novolac 900 are both compatible epoxy options, with Novolac 900 reserved for the most aggressive chemical exposure. Surface Preparation
Concrete must be cured at least 7 days, clean, structurally sound, and free of wax, loose paint, or curing compounds, then mechanically prepared to an ICRI CSP 3 profile. Acid etching is not recommended for this product and will void the manufacturer warranty. Control joints and perimeter walls require a keyway cut to the manufacturer's specifications so the material has somewhere to terminate; never feather edge urethane cement. CastorCrete SL should be applied directly to bare, properly prepared concrete rather than over an existing coating. Mixing note: Pour Parts A, B, and C together and mix for 30 seconds, then slowly add Part D while mixing and continue for another 30 seconds. Place the mixed material immediately and keep a wet edge between batches; working with more than one mixing container at a time helps keep a steady supply of fresh material on hand. Urethane Cement Is a Professional Installation Product
Urethane cement is not a roll on DIY floor coating. It requires mechanical concrete preparation, perimeter and termination keyways, equipment designed for heavy mortar mixing, gauge rake or trowel placement, thickness control, and a continuous wet edge between batches, normally handled by an organized installation crew. What topcoat can I add?
