Pore Sealing Technology – Eliminates outgassing bubbles so your next layer of 100% solids Epoxy goes out bubble free. Most coating failures start at the surface. A properly applied primer like this one eliminates that risk by sealing the concrete and creating a consistent foundation for the system. It is the foundation that determines how well your entire system performs. Mixing and Application Instructions Step 1 Pre Mix Because this is a water based product, settlement is normal and expected. Blend the bucket of BASE (Part A) for 1 minute before pouring into a larger bucket and combining with activator. Step 2 The Blend For 1 Gallon Kits: Pour Part A and Part B into a larger mixing bucket and blend for 2 minutes using a paddle mixer. For 2 or More Gallons: When mixing multiple kits together (up to 4 gallons in a 5 gallon bucket), you must use a Box Mixer and blend for 2 - 3 minutes to ensure a complete chemical reaction. Step 3 Application Pour the mixed material directly onto the floor. While wearing spiked shoes, spread the material evenly using a flat squeegee. Small Projects: You may utilize a paint tray and dip and roll using a 1/4” nap epoxy roller (ensure the roller is de-shedded prior to use). To avoid roller lines, you may backroll the floor before the product becomes tacky. Coverage and Technical Specs All SFPG dependent upon porosity of the concrete: Primer on Porous Concrete: 200 to 250 SFPG Grind and Seal Base Coat: 200 to 250 SFPG Grind and Seal Body Coat: 150 to 200 SFPG Light Duty DIY Garage Floor (Needs Pigment and Two Layers): 150 to 175 SFPG Concrete Sealer / Dust Proofing: 200 to 250 SFPG Densifier Application: When applying to very soft or weak concrete, add 10% water to the first coat and apply as a densifier. The material should be applied to saturate the surface and allow for proper penetration into the concrete. Coverage rates for this application will vary depending on the condition and porosity of the concrete. Once the densified layer has dried, apply a second full strength coat without dilution. This exception applies only when using the product as a densifier and does not apply to standard primer or coating applications. Application Temp: Best if applied between 55 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Cure Schedule and Recoating Tack Free / Foot Traffic: 12 Hours Recoat Window: 24 Hours Heavy Foot Traffic: 48 Hours Vehicular Traffic: 72 Hours (3 Days) When To Sand For Additional Coats: A second coat may be applied within the 24 hour recoat window without sanding. If more than 24 hours have passed since the previous application, sanding is required. Sand the surface using a 100 to 120 mesh sanding screen, then vacuum and wipe the surface with denatured alcohol or acetone to achieve a proper mechanical bond before applying the next coat. Frequently Asked Questions Can I add a little water to make the primer spread further?No. You should not thin to expand coverage rate. Thinning disrupts the chemical bond and will result in a weak coat. The only exception is adding 10% water when using the product strictly as a densifier for very soft, crumbly concrete. Why do I have to sand before applying my metallic or topcoat?Sanding creates a mechanical profile or "teeth" for the next layer to grab onto. Skipping this step leads to poor adhesion and potential delamination. Which mixer should I use?For single gallon kits, a standard paddle mixer is fine. For anything 2 gallons or larger, a Box Mixer is required to ensure the Part A and Part B are fully integrated without trapping excessive air. Do I need a primer before epoxy?Yes. A primer improves adhesion, seals concrete pores to reduce outgassing, and helps prevent bubbles in your high build layers. Can I use this under metallic epoxy?Yes. This is one of the best applications for this product as it ensures the Metallic Dream layer goes down over a sealed surface, preventing bubbles from ruining the finish. Is this a high build coating?No. Water based epoxy is typically used as a primer or light duty coating, not as a high build system. Can this be used as a final coat?Yes, in light duty environments such as storage areas or mechanical rooms. What happens if I skip sanding between coats?Skipping sanding can lead to poor adhesion and potential delamination between layers of the flooring system.
